In the early 1800’s William Thornhill is convicted of theft in London and sent to New South Wales for the term of his natural life. Really not my kinda book. A friend was adamant I had to read it because she found it life changing, and it's on those '100 books you must read' lists, so I figured I'd give it a go even though it was outside of my usual reading fare.
I wasn't a fan of the writing style, and that made it hard for me to engage with the story. The premise and the storyline was interesting, and it is definitely a story worth telling, but yeah. Just large chunks of text with description and dialogue within the blocks. ...more
