The movie gave me the creeps, so I had to read the book. I could relate to this well because I graduated from a rather physically isolated women's college. Chilling and atmospheric!

I came to this book having seen the film in its entirety for the first time earlier this year.
I find it an interesting piece and I love the mystery of it all. However, when I read it I think of the film and I wonder if the book would have had the same effect on me if I had come to it with no prior knowledge of the story.

I first read this book about 35 years ago after the movie came out. I had forgotten how well written it was. Working with a student who is doing it as part of an extended essay task, so I thought I better read it again. He is focussing on "Hanging", which is a new dramatic interpretation set in contemporary times. I was amazed how much of this I had forgotten so I really enjoyed the revisiting. Still a fascinating story.
