'Vernon God Little' is surprisingly funny and heartwarming , words not often said regarding books about high school massacres. The actual massacre and perpetrator is kept very much in the background of the story and not discussed explicitly. Pierre has perfectly captured the mind of a 15 year old boy and the book is a great bildungsroman. I recommend it.

If novels were the ideal vehicle for bangin' one liners then this would be a masterpiece. I liked it OK (probably 2.5) because it made me laugh a lot, lots of strong images and analogies, but the character voice kept pulling me out (doesn't usually happen) which made it a bit of a slog.
