Unfortunately this novel didn't really do it for me. There are some beautiful descriptions (despite the time setting of the novel - being post-ww2) and the undercurrents of feelings are absolutely amazing however I get really confused sometimes with the conversations, I don't know if it's me but sometimes I just can't tell who said what even when I re-read the passage again and again.

The pace itself is slow-ish but I didn't mind that so much as somehow it sort of relevant to the 'time'. I also l ...more
