A sweeping coming of age saga set in South Africa during the late 1930's to the early 1950's. Young Peekay's life is certainly eventful and he encounters many fascinating characters along the way. Listened to the audio version which was masterfully read by Humphrey Bower.

I really enjoyed this book. I found myself reading it late into the night when I should have been sleeping.
It was a well written and powerful book and the main character was an amazing individual. The things he experienced and the ways he dealt with them were fascinating and very thought provoking.
