Set in the far west of Australia in the early 1960s, Boy on a Wire sees Jack, a rural lad, sent off to the city to attend boarding school. Boy on a Wire is his narrative of the experience. Jack isn't always a likeable protagonist but he is a bit of a larrakin lad and definitely a product of the times.
