Her usual weekday alarm of 4am saw Corinna Chapman heading downstairs to the bakery and her waiting apprentice, Jason, to begin their day of baking for Earthly Delights and the regular customers that would flock to the door on opening. The summer heat was already making itself felt when Corinna opened the side door to let the Mouse Police out and spied a man, obviously distraught; stumbling toward her. Always enjoyable, although I get tired of Corinna waxing lyrical over Daniel's perfection - perhaps I'm just jealous -, & the witchy stuff is a bit irritating. I love Insula, its people & its animals. Very easy to read. ...more

A Scottish British Army vet, Alasdair comes to Melbourne with his trusted dog who both served in Afghanistan and have been traumatized. His dog is kidnapped and Alastair is injured and finds his way to Corrina’s bakery and her lover Daniel who is a Israeli and a private detective. There is a series of break ins in the apartment block Corrina lives in and she as an amateur sleuth is d
