I read The Drifter, Anthea Hodgson’s first novel late last year and absolutely loved it so this was one of my highly anticipated 2018 releases. It’s loosely linked to that first novel, set in the same area with a few crossover characters. Teddy’s grandmother Deirdre is a larger than life character in The Drifter and fans of her will be happy to see her background explored in this novel.

The Cowgirl is the story of Teddy and her Grandmother, Deirdre. Will, the nephew of one of Deirdre's friends, comes to the farm to dig up the old family home that was demolished when she was only 8.
It is told in both present day and flashbacks to Deirdre's formative years.
It was an entertaining read, particularly the banter between Teddy and Will. I did struggle a bit with Teddy though, I found her to be a bit of an unlikable character. ...more
