I was able to read this via giveaways and can truly say its a real book that makes you think. Suicide in rural Australia is a very real thing and this book is one that handles it in the most amazing way.

I heard Lia Hills talk about The Crying Place at The Newcastle Writers Festival this year and knew I had to get hold of the book. The research she did for the book sounded meticulous and fascinating, and her sensitivity, linguistic acumen and perceptions struck me as poetic and powerful.
