What Members Thought

This was a great read - it took a little while for me to get drawn in, and I never felt like I fully connected with the main character, Aaron, but the questions about what was originally thought to be an open-and-shut case grew and grew and I wanted answers to my questions!! There were a few slight inconsistencies, but not enough to hinder my enjoyment of the story.

Ok so firstly I need to point out that earlier this year I read an amazing book, by one of my favourite authors of all time that was similar to "The Dry", so I couldn't not compare the 2.
I have purposely rated this lower than the other book, as I did enjoy that one more.

Federal police investigator Aaron Falk returns to the town where he grew up to attend the funeral of his childhood friend Luke Hadler, who killed his wife and child before turning the gun on himself. However, Aaron starts to doubt the murder-suicide charge and while he is investigating he is also dealing with gossip, childhood secrets and the reason he left the town in the first place.

I kinda like how it surprised me on "whodunnit" and how it actually made me feel I was a part of the group who're investigating the case based on the writing style. I get really picky on who can actually make me feel immersed in literary adventures.
I'm not gonna read the next book, though. I feel like this should be one of those books that are better off as standalone. ...more
