Liane Moriarty did it again. This was another hard-hitting domestic drama with a body count.

Clementine, Sam and their two daughters went to a neighbourhood BBQ. It was just a casual gathering on a laid back afternoon. Six responsible adults, three cute kids and a playful dog. So how did it end up with a rush to the emergency department and a few days later, a body?

I loved the characters. Their motivations made sense to me. I emphatised a great deal with Erika and Clementine. I had been a version

Truly Madly Guilty has a BBQ at its heart, with three couples torn apart by what happened that sunny afternoon. There is Clementine and Adam, a cellist and a marketing executive who have two gorgeous little girls. Erika went to s ...more

This book had me hooked from the start. Loved the characters, though each had their flaws and they all played a part in the drama, some even unexpectedly. This book echoed bad dreams that I have had.

3 stars is possibly being generous.

I must confess I don't get the big love that this book has received. Can't believe it was voted as the best book of 2016. Took way too long for the big event to happen and then dragged out after that to an insipid ending. I do think the premise was interesting but the execution didn't work for me
