I loved the descriptions of the Blue Mountains and life in the Evergreen Spa Hotel, and I enjoyed Lauren's story in the present day, but Violet, in the part set in the 1920s, rather irritated me with her poor decision-making. I saw part of the twist coming from a mile off, so that was no surprise but I didn't exactly expect how things happened around that.

I listened to this as an audiobook narrated by Jennifer Vuletic who is a good narrator.

The Blue Mountains hold a special place in my heart. Asides for having been there numerous times in my teens for youth Christian camps, it is also where I met my husband (during one of these camps). No, it wasn’t insta love... in fact, we barely spoke and only really got to know each other afterwards. Nevertheless, this is one reason why I was drawn to this novel: the setting.
