Because I have a short reading attention span, reading Cleopatra: A Life reminded me that I had this book on my mental to-read list. And today I decided to take a detour into reading Cleopatra's Daughter before resuming that one. I enjoyed the book esp. b/c it was from the point of view of a young character. I liked that it included the youthful aspect of many the secondary figures of the "imperial" family. I am not sure I agree with the overly harsh way that Livia was characterized. I do think the Red Eagle devise was a bit much esp. when it turns out to be a key person and real historical figure. I think when you do something such as that you should make the entire person fictional and even then, I am not sure I would
