[close] This book, with minimalist text and illustrations, is made to look like a brown cardboard box and can be used with children from nursery age to adult to inspire the imagination. It could also be usefully used as a trigger for RE lessons. My experience of using it with trainee teachers shows that they either love it or hate it!

'Not A Box' is a fantastic book for Early Years. Based on childrens greatest gift, imagination, this book takes on the concept of philosophy. Throughout the story, Bunny is asked why he is playing with a box but of course it isnt a box, its a rocket, a car and even a robot. With little written words, this is an easy read that allows children to look creatively at the 'box' in the ways children naturally do. People either "get" this one and love it and don't and hate it. A simple story and illustrations packaged in a box of a book. Read it for yourself and see. It could be used for PSHE and RE with Nursery to yr 6.
