Wow. That was emotionally taxing and amazing. I don’t even know if I can put into words how wonderful this book is.

“People feel pain. And it shrinks their souls.”

As a parent of a hockey player, I loved this book so much. I laughed out loud and cried maybe on the same page.

My five-star rating for this novel is solely dependent on Fredrik Backman’s ability to write characters. His characters are always so raw and vulnerable and show the devastating side of being human.

I absolutely loved this book. I loved the writing style. Backman utilizes foreshadowing, showing, repetition, and multiple POV to thread together a heart wrenching story that keeps you engaged, gasping, and on the edge of your seat all the way through. I had visible emotions while reading this one. The story line is also super important. I enjoyed how it was handled and brought to light. The writing makes this book everything.
