What Members Thought

Normally I like closure and flash forwards at the end of a book ... this one not so much. It could have ended without the 2014 flash forward and I’d have been okay.
But overall I really enjoyed the book. I prefer the chapters of Marie more than those or Werner .... but was sad the way they finally met and more sad the way it ended.
Love the buildings and puzzles that Marie’s father makes her ... and the love and devotion he and Etienne have for this blind child.

Perspective. Worlds within worlds. The slim line that separates good from bad, righteous from evil. The absolute horror of war, the despair of never knowing, and the hope that a new life can rise from the ashes. A book that everyone should read, so that no one forgets, so that just maybe, future wars can be circumvented.

I loved this book. It's one of those books that you either love, or not so much.

One of the best books based during WWII that I have read. Unlike Girl on the Train, this book was well worth it's hype!
