A clever, moving, painful and uplifting book. Kay’s background appears to be in poetry and this comes as no surprise. The book is written from several people’s perspectives and her prose changes voice effortlessly. At times, the novel is a little overwritten and flowery, but you forgive this because the power of the story is in its quietness.
