The Age of Miracles is such a well-written, accomplished piece of literature. I liked the "normal" setting. I really liked how Thompson had her characters constantly recalibrating "normal" in light of current events. There is a sense of survival in them, but at such a low level that they don't want it to deter from their every-day lives.

Not sure it this is a first book for this author but I would guess so. I enjoyed the premise of the story and there was great development of the main character but not much for the others in the book. I think the author easily got away with that because of the great dialogue work and the unique take on the dystopian theme. The thought that something so basic as our consistently spinning world and its relation to the stars and the weather could be turned on its head is a sobering and creative spi
