*The story kept my interest; I wanted to keep reading to see what would happen next.
*About a time in history, The Troubles, that I didn't know much about until my recent trip to Northern Ireland and whetted my appetite for more reading on the topic - preferably true-life accounts and memoirs.
*The work made the point that violence begets violence and that revenge is a never-ending cycle.

*The book needed an editor. The grammatical errors just about drove me crazy.
