Two stars is a stretch.
The Kill Order is not a lengthy book, but is a laborious read. As an addition to the Maze Runner series, it felt forced and gratuitous, a last dime squeezed from a successful idea. The dialog and descriptions are cheesy and fluctuate between childish and antiquated...basically, no adult talks like this. Especially no adult in a post-apocalyptic hellscape. Maybe Dashner, accustomed to writing from an adolescent's perspective, struggled to transition away from that mindset.
