This book took me a long time to get into, there was a lot of character development and plot building that I found rather boring. But by 100-150 pages, the story started to thicken and I became interested in the cases of the characters (in particular the young ones) and I started to care for them. The ending was rather shocking, I didn't expect that at all but the great thing about J.K. Rowling is that she never shies from the truth.

I had heard mixed reviews about this book, so I wasn't sure what to expect. It is definitely NOT Harry Potter. I really liked it, I thought it was an interesting read, but felt it could have been far shorter. At some point, I just thought things were unnecessarily dragging, and that is why I'd give it about 3.5/4 stars.

It was a good book, but not briliant. There are many characters which can be a little confusing but none of them are flat which I loved. The ending was shocking to me, but it also seemed like the ending to a different story... So all in all I liked it, enjoyed it, but secretly I hoped for more.
