Review: CARMILLA is remarkably Sapphic, in my opinion, for a book whose initial serialization occurred in 1861-1872, in the midst of the mostly repressive Victorian Era. I enjoyed this and thought it was beautifully written and, for whatever reason, sort of seductive. I was clueless as the story started, having not read anything regarding Carmilla before, so when I realized what was going on with the girl who was left with Laura's father and strange things began to happen, I was baffled.
