What Members Thought
As I was in Grade 12 - so I am I over 10 years later. I am remarkably and wholly unimpressed by Salinger's writing, a protagonist I cannot relate with and find utterly worthless. I decided to read Catcher in the Rye again to see if my perspective may have changed in a decade, but I find that it has not: perhaps with more experienced eyes for literary analysis, I find this book even more trite, poorly written, and the protagonist even more unlikeable and unable to empathise with. I still have no idea why this book is so beloved. I could barely make myself finish this awful book. Just because something is deemed a 'classic' doesn't mean it's good..
