It's been a while since I last read Mockingjay, but I want to put some of my thoughts down. This will be full of spoilers so don't read it if you haven't finished Mockingjay.

The good things:
The ending was so realistic. If Peeta and Katniss lived happily ever after it wouldn't have worked, I liked that they suffered from post-war trauma because they've been through so much heartache and suffering that if they were fine it would have been weird.

The good things:

The fact that Peeta and Katniss got together <3 It wasn't a huge declaration of love and soppy romance but that was perfect. When she said "Real" I was just so happy, because that sentence worked for them and encapsulated both the good things but also the bad things (which we can't forget).

The deaths. I hate the deaths of characters I love in books, but they're necessary. When there's a huge battle, people die (Unless you're reading Breaking Dawn) like in Harry Potter. Loveable Finnick died leaving behind a baby fatherless- parents die in wars and it was important to have this element. Also, I've seen people complain that these deaths were unnecessary...no death is necessary, in war people die everyday. That's why Prim died, after everything Katniss did for her; because Katniss essentially had no control in this bigger plan.

Now the not so good:

It was just anti-climatic. The first half of the book was Katniss walking through the districts and then the preparation for the attack on the Capitol. But the moment she got to Snow's house, the bombs go off and she collapses. There was no big ending!

The ending was rushed, it was as if Suzanne Collins just wanted to wrap everything up super quick.

Gale- I like Gale. Some people hate him, but he's a good guy! He looked after Katniss' family after she had to go into the games and he genuinely cares and wants what's good for other people! But Collins just wrote him off and we're told he becomes a TV host which sounds so unlike Gale.

I expected more from the finale, and while it wasn't as good as the Hunger Games and Catching Fire, it was still good and deserves credit.

Can't wait for the Catching Fire movie!

This was so much better than the second one. And, thankfully, it helped me figure out exactly what I didn't like about the second one.

Hunger Games and Mockingjay are fundamentally different, and even if you haven't read the series, you can spot the disconnect in the people who left glowing reviews of the first book, but were drastically disappointed by the third.

My least favorite of the series. I really had a hard time with Katniss in this book the first time I read it. That didn't stop my from staying up til the early hours of the morning to finish it.
