A good story. The two main characters were so likable. It is a combination of so many genres. I enjoyed the story line - a combination of historical fiction, romance, science fiction and fantasy. The violence in the story was fine as it fit in with the era and the plot. However, I felt that the book would have been better if some of the "romance" had been left to the imagination. For this reason it was only a four star read for me.

This is bar far the best novel I have ever read. If you want to read historical fiction read Outlander. If you want to read something you can't put down, read Outlander, and if you want to read a book you cannot get enough of and you're willing to read a very long series spanning the characters lives, loves, deaths, hardships and triumphs, read Outlander. OH, and from a writer's POV, Diana Gabaldon has the finest grasp on how to write fiction I have ever read.

My favorite book I've read all year! It held my interest from day one with the characters, the history, the setting. A wonderful book that I highly recommend to anyone who loves history, romance, and science fiction. Once you meet Jamie Fraser, he stays with you always!
