I tend not to read the back of a book before starting as I find it sometimes ruins the book for me, so this story line was the last thing I expecting from this book. The relationship between father and son is lovely but not sure about the whole teaching your son to poach side of things. Also giving then powder from sleeping tablets, hmmmm! It was also nice to see an appearance of the BFG in this book.
The love that is shown in this book by Danny and his father is, I believe, the best depiction of a happy family that I have ever read in a fictional book. I would have said it was the best writing about family values if the father, and really the entire village (including police, the doctor and the clergy) were not introducing Danny to illegal activities.
