It's a typical Susane Colasanti work. Realistic. Well-written.

It's what I've come to expect from Susane Colasanti's books --> something that makes you think, "I can relate." "That's totally how I feel" or just "I understand" and "I can see why.."

Brooke's a genius (albeit, a very reluctant one) but she made the choice to follow her crush to another city. Some would say that "She's a genius. Why would she be able to make a mistake as stupid as that?" That thought did cross my mind, but as I begin It's a typical Susane Colasanti work. Realistic. Well-written.

Why would she be able to make a mistake as stupid as that?" That thought did cross my mind, but as I begin to read more, I began to understand Colasanti's point. It's realistic. Come on, think of the most brilliant person you know. Did that person always make the most brilliant decisions? I'd like to bet that the answer would be NO. We all do some stupid things for love, or even just for something that closely resembles love. She took the risk, and it paid off. Not in a way she expected it to be. But in real life, when we take risks, even if it turns out to be disastrous, there's always something good that comes out of it, right?

Another thing I love about this book is that it depicts a character that you could hate at times, yet as you read more, you begin to understand and eventually you begin to well, maybe not really love, but accept.

It's one of those books that's easy to read. You just want to finish the whole thing. It's not just all about one young lady's love life. It's practically about life regardless of age. How many times did we stop to realize that we don't know what we should do? I'm just twenty years old, but I admit that there's been loads of times when I asked myself if it's too late to turn things around. Maybe some have it easy. Maybe making the right decisions come naturally for some people, but I'm quite sure that there are still times that even those people stopped to question or maybe just be a little bit skeptic about their decisions.

I would have given this 5 stars, but I found the ending quite abrupt. I mean, I'm not saying that it should have included a lot of details, but I would have liked a bit more into the ending.

But over-all, it was a good read because I'd like to think that the best books are the ones that doesn't just tell you a story, but ones that make you stop and think.

And this book certainly made me think about growing up, learning from mistakes, turning your life around, appreciating the people around you, forgiving, and most of all, that in this beautiful but sometimes very cruel word, you don't have to be alone.

I love Susane Colasanti's books because they are short, sweet, and have a good message to learn. This was one of them and I really liked it. It was cute and easy to read and follow. The plot was simple but had the amazing setting of New York City as the background and it gave it a magical feel to it. It made it feel like I was there following Brooke as she explored her new home. Brooke was a pretty good character. I liked her more towards the end when she started finding out who she really was. ...more
