Do not let the cover fool you!
For some reason, I do not enjoy vampire stories. I let this book sit on my bookshelf, waiting to be read, for about 3 months.
And I regret not reading this sooner.
This book somewhat reminded me of Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo, mainly because of the connection between the Darkling and Gavriel (male protagonist of Coldtown). They are both conceived as depraved people.
WARNING
It's quite gruesome.
