I get it. From the first two chapters in, I was hooked. In fact, I almost cried. To be connected to the characters enough to want to cry within the first two chapters is an amazing feat. The language is so direct and matter-of-fact, I think it provides even more power in the words. Describing what are true horrors so succinctly because they are just a part of the daily life makes them that more stark.
