What Members Thought
This is my second Edith Wharton book, and her talent is definitely apparent. I almost put this aside, as it felt like it might become a version of a Jane Austen novel (and after reading almost all of her novels, the formula doesn't work for me) but fortunately that was not the case. The story was well told, with Edith's underlying premise about marriage's impact on the individual (and how expectations can stifle an individual's true desires if they are unwilling to choose the latter at the expen
