What Members Thought
I had high hopes since I loved The Kite Runner, but it took until the middle of the book for me to care about any of the characters. Negative reviews of this book cited the author's inability to speak from the female perspective, and I agree. Only one of the two main characters was engaging enough to keep me reading to the end.

Another solid read by Hosseini. Still dealt with some difficult topics, but the ending was more uplifting than Kite Runner. There is an oceanic-sized gap in U.S. and Afghan cultures, which becomes more apparent each time I read one of Hosseini's books.
