What Members Thought
This book is very well written. It incorporates various thoughts and images into a finely crafted novel that tells the plight of thousands of people that were displaced from their land, their lives, their heritage. They had no choice but to seek their fortune in sunny Calif. The state offered no work, comfort or warmth to the down-trodden. Once the immigrants arrived in California, the indignities continued.
Heartbreaking and awesome. I read The Worst Hard Time by Egan at the same time and it really increased my appreciation of the migrant farm worker.
