Wow... Ok, what can I say about this book?
It starts off pretty slow, but after 100 pages or so, the pace really picks up. The names are terrible, especially place names, but that's just because it was originally written in Swedish. Also, there were a few places where the translation left me scratching my head, but I'm going to blame that on the translators and not the authors.

This was an okay read -- the amount of hype surrounding it kept me reading since it started out very slow and although it was okay I would have easily been tempted to put this book down and move to something else more engaging. The last quarter/third of the book was much more interesting as the mystery unfolded, but overall I did not find this to be as compelling as the reviews indicated. However, I plan to read the next book, so I guess it was engaging enough to pass that bar!

Brilliant... witty... a clever and extremely mysterious young woman with a sketchy past, a body covered in tattoos with a penchant for computers, motorcycling, and sandwiches is unexpectedly teamed up with a straight-laced journalist who wound up on the wrong side of the tracks to investigate the decades old murder of a girl he knew as a child... brilliant characterization, fantastic plot, beautiful delivery... all in all, an excellently written story.

I finished this quite awhile ago. It's very difficult to get into, but the main story line is very good.
