Couldn't get through it. Tried three times. The financial stuff was a giant bore. The sexual abuse was the nail in the coffin.
UPDATE--I finally made it through because it is required reading for a workshop I'd like to take. I still fail to see the attraction. I admit to having a bad attitude when it comes to this book, so take what I say with a grain of salt. it seemed like a poorly paced murder mystery to me and nothing more. And apparently, it made me grouchy! ...more

-(#1 of the Millennium Series)-This is probably one of the best books I have ever read. I’ve been thinking about how I would explain the reason for that and I’m finding it difficult to put it into words. When I started the book, it was a little difficult to hold my attention. There was a lot of information about the global financial world, non-interesting, factual, background information. I realize now this was setting the ground work for the main plot. The author was very thorough in developing

I wanted to find out what all the fuss was about. Larsson's debut novel and its two sequels have topped Best Sellers lists for what feels like forever. As has happened previously with mega hits such as Harry Potter and The Da Vinci Code, curiosity won out. I was simply incapable of letting the cult phenomenon pass me by. Nobody wants to be the only person at the literary water cooler who hasn't read the book that's dominating the conversation. I was not overwhelmed when finally getting around to

I would give this book 2.5 stars if I could-- it's just not good enough for 3. I am mystified why it has received the acclaim it has. I have read many mysteries and thrillers that were far superior.
That being said, the beginning is interesting. I like the way the characters are introduced but once it gets into the Vanger family history it becomes boring beyond belief. I plodded away at finishing it because I had chosen it for book club. (Sorry friends.) If I had know what I was getting into, I ...more

This was a really good book! I actually started it on Friday and finished it on Monday. We had a long weekend and we went to the cottage so I had alot of quality time with my new book lol
I was a little worried at the beginning but when they brought in Mikael Blomkvist and Lisbeth Salander, I was hooked. I highly recommend this book for sure. It was well written, it was really very graphic and it was definately a book that I could not put down...Obviousley seeing I read 800 pages in 4 days lol

I really wasn't sure how I'd like this one, but I've heard so much about it that it piqued my interest. A lot of the financial and computer hacking stuff was over my head, but the story mostly centered around the Vanger family and the disappearance of Harriet 36 years before, and once they started to delve into that I could hardly put the book down, I just had to know the whole story. I thought Mikael and Lisbeth made a great team working together, and it was good to see them both come out on to

I picked up this book hearing all the great things, that it was the greatest book that they have ever read, so on and so forth. So I went in with high hopes, which were dashed. I found out that the story doesn't really get off the ground until like 150 pages in.... and also that this book is a Swedish book. So all the names and places are from Swedeen. I just couldn't understand it and after a week of reading, im giving up.
