What Members Thought

I Did NOT like this book; only read it half way through; so it probably should not be on my 'read' list. There should be a shelf for the books you were excited to read, expected too much, and were totally disappointed in. I was intrigued with the time traveling aspect, it was a good concept, but I read and read hoping to get to a point where I actually cared about Henry and Clare. Never reached that point, and I gave them plenty of chances. The language is quite bad which I can overlook for a fa

Please tell me I'm not the only one that didn't like this book...!
I'm usually a bit sceptically to very popular books, so I've had this in my shelf for over a year, waiting for me. And I really thought it should be a wonderful read, and I was so excited to read this book. I mean, there is a movie made from it - it has to be good, right??
But I just made it to about 160 pages before I had to give up.

The idea of time travel has always been fascinating stuff. The premise of it is simply captivating. What’s got to be cooler than time travel, right? To be able to travel to the past and future. And maybe go visit Elvis, or go to future and see yourself as an 75-year-old crumbling man/woman. This kind of thing has been out there in sci-fic books for quite a while, but in The Time Traveler’s Wife, there’s a new aspect to it. This time traveling is a disease, specifically Chrono Displacement Disord

Well, this book didn't even compare to my favorite time travel books--the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon. I just get the feeling that this book "Could have been" so much more. It could have been an absolutely beautiful love story--but it just didn't get there for me. I will say, the author's take on time travel was interesting. And pondering through the ramifications of her time travel scenario would get my head spinning!

This book was decent, but not really my thing. The plot was extremely flat. There were no real twists or surprises or anything like that. Just good old-fashion story telling. The love story was nice, but Henry's time with Alba is what really hit home for me. I applaud the author for coming up with the whole time-travel thing. It was executed superbly, when it just as easily could have been a silly gimmick.

Intriguing and disturbing! I thought the storyline was very unique and heart-rending at times. I lay awake at night trying to put myself in Henry's shoes and contemplating how dramatically such a "disorder" could affect a person. I really felt sympathetic for Henry & Clare and other characters affected by Henry's disorder.
The issues I had with the book were:
1. The foul language served no literary purpose and I think the characters would have seemed more intelligent (as they were supposed to be) ...more
