Whew, what a ride! These characters have a lot of grit, even when they're afraid. I read the sequel (To the Uttermost) first, so it was nice to see how some of those relationships started. I really liked Doyle, and especially Rose's care of him. It was fun to see Sally in her younger days. Definitely the same Texas redhead. ;) There was a ton of action, and the style was engaging and easy to follow, although at times it seemed a little repetitive. Strangers and Pilgrims was such a great read! From the very first page, I was drawn into this old West town with badguys lurking around every corner. I could nearly feel the grit on my own face! Harry and Rose were wonderful characters - both of them felt as if they could stand alone in their own books. Neither of them suffered from the "complimentary other main character" syndrome.
