Finally finished!

There's not much to say. This was really slow for me. It didn't hold my attention whatsoever, and it felt really drawn out. I never was a huge fan of this trilogy, I always liked it, but this was probably my least favorite book of the series. It took me a really long time to get through this. I read the final book in another series (different author) a couple weeks ago and was so badly disappointed. So when I picked up Reached, I was wary. I have loved this series so much, just like I had that other series, and I was so afraid that this final installment to the Matched saga was going to disappoint me. I am SO happy that wasn't the case! This was an absolutely perfect, brilliant ending to this fabulous series!

The characters were, as ever, the same wonderful personalities I've grown to I read the final book in another series (different author) a couple weeks ago and was so badly disappointed. So when I picked up Reached, I was wary. I have loved this series so much, just like I had that other series, and I was so afraid that this final installment to the Matched saga was going to disappoint me. I am SO happy that wasn't the case! This was an absolutely perfect, brilliant ending to this fabulous series!

The characters were, as ever, the same wonderful personalities I've grown to love throughout the story. Cassia is brave and determined; Ky is loving and soulful, Xander is intelligent and caring. These three will go down in my fiction history book as some of my favorite characters of all time. You love all three of them so much, and I was on the edge of my seat rooting for all three of them with their separate struggles. And therein lies one of the things I love about Condie's writing of this series... these three characters each have their own story arc, their own personal and external journies that they must travel, and it is so gratifying to get to the end and see how they've developed and where they've ended.

The story itself was perfect for me. I loved the idea of the plague....It was compelling, had far-reaching impacts, both to the society they live in, and to them personally. I thought I would grow bored with the fact that a large chunk of the book is told with all three characters being in separate places, but I wasn't. The pacing was so perfect that it just worked. The chapters were told in alternating points of view between the three characters and it made the story literally breeze by.

Finally, the writing was beautiful and compelling. There were times of sheer poetry where the words painted pictures and made you feel like you were there. I am so sorry that the story is now over for these characters, but I definitely look forward to seeing what Ally Condie puts out in future. This series definitely made me a fan. The ending was absolutely amazing, and I felt emotionally exhausted at the end of it, as I had spent the entire time reading this story being literally on the edge of my seat. But it ended exactly as it should. Fabulous series!
