The book is long. It has a lot of information on religion and science for the story to make sense. It has many quotes of the bible so no book and chapter and verse references. The author wants to push his idea from the bible with the quotes in the story itself. There are multiple flashbacks to build the different characters especially the multiple main characters and how their lives all connected.
