I found the book very easy to read and practical. It felt like you were sitting having a conversation with King and he was just sharing his ideas and background. He did not make it sound glamourous nor did he make himself sound anything other than just a guy who can write. I really enjoyed it.
I will say that I wish I had read the book in paper form rather than electronic. I don't find electronic form as easy to go back and check passages over for content. With paper, you can find a section th ...more

I finished reading Stephen King's book On Writing a while ago and have been letting it percolate in my mind while I studied for my last NCARB ARE exam. (That's why I don't finish books and post them on here nearly as often as I'd like to.) Part autobiographical memoir, part how-to, part telepathy, Stephen's book is an inspiring read for many a would-be writer such as myself. The book was okay. The thing is that I am not a fan of horror, so I was put off by the references to and examples from, Stephen King's prior books.

I just re-read this book, and it's still the best writing advice out there. A must-have on your shelf.
