I really enjoyed this book. It's quite lengthy but gives a good picture of not only Lincoln but much of his entire cabinet. It was interesting to read about Lincoln campaigning against some of the members of his cabinet in the Presidential election and then Lincoln subsequently choosing these same men that he ran against to fill his cabinet.

Undoubtedly one of the finest books I have ever read; clear writing about an engaging topic. Our current political environment has much to learn from the lessons laid out by Lincoln and his compatriots.
I appreciate the amount of research at went into this very detailed account of Lincoln's cabinets, but I wish it were shorter. It was hard to keep track of all the p,ayers over 750 pages.

Excellent, mostly clear biography of Lincoln and his world. Though a little too detailed, it was pretty thrilling throughout; even knowing the ending.
