Of course it was good, it was Sedaris! But I'd already read/heard some of them, which is slightly annoying in a brand new book. Still funny, though, and a good, quick read.

I might be rating this a little unfairly because for years, people have been telling me how much I would like David Sedaris - how funny and relatable his writing is. Unfortunately, it didn't live up to the hype for me. I felt that the short stories in this book had a lot of similar themes, and instead of coming off as a robust collection that builds on its parts, it just seemed repetitive. The fictional monologues (the "etc." pieces) seemed too heavy-handed to be clever.

I liked this collection of essays -which was read by the author. The first set were excellent, the last three were the weakest essays. All around very entertaining.
