Thoroughly enjoyed this graphic novel. I didn't anticipate the three stories' amalgamation into a deeper allegory about becoming part of a dominant culture. Also, it was a quick read, and I always enjoy quick reads.

I was really excited for this book, but in the end I just felt confused about all the praise that's been heaped on this one. I honestly wouldn't even call it good, much less great.
I think my main issue with it is that all three stories and all the characters felt somewhat flat. I feel like themes of identity, culture, and so on have been explored better in other graphic novels where not only were the themes important but the story was too and the characters were actually ones you cared about- Pe ...more
