With its air of mystery and suspense, Never Let Me Go is a novel that really drew me in.
A book about coming of age and friendship (and cloning and organ donation!), I was most impressed not with the plot itself but with the characterization and how the story was told.

I've been in the mood for dystopian books lately, and this definitely qualifies. Beautifully written, and a fast read despite relatively little action. There's a lot of subtlety to the interactions between the characters, like a lot of books that I guess would be described as about manners (not quite sure what the genre is...), which is all the more interesting for being set in an essentially an alternate universe that's only slightly different from what we know.
