Okay, I really like the story you saw in the movie, mostly b/c I could just play the movie in my head as I read it.
However, I HATED the author interjections/introductions. They were smug and filled with racist, sexist and sizeist comments. This is one of the few books that is way better as a movie.
It was a fine diversion, but rewatching the movie is a way better way to spend a couple of hours.

I'm an outlier among my generation. When I was in college, at any given time at least one person in my dorm would be watching or quoting "The Princess Bride," but I think both this book and the movie it inspired are pointless and boring. I tried to like them, I really did. But they are just not funny or moving or exciting. And I still don't understand why I'd want to watch a movie where the wardrobe looks like it came from a halloween costume shop.
