I know, I'm late to the... I don't want to say "party." *Exhale* okay - I had to glurp this book down like an oyster because I was afraid of lingering for the frustration, the sorrow, the injustice. I was afraid of appreciating the successful, specific voice Sapphire created. I was afraid to even think about beginning to tiptoe toward trying to relate. There was alot of hype over this book and I generally try to stir clear of hyped up books. However I made an exception with this one. It was very detailed and incredibly sad to read. What is most said about this novel is that it could very well have happened to someone. Despite the poor circumstances of the story, there is still a message of determination which can not be forgotten.
