This J.K. Rowling woman, turns out she can write pretty well. WHO KNEW.
A long read at 500 pages - very long on character development, and a little less so on plot - but it really gets cranking towards the end (almost too fast, actually - a majority of the heart-wrenching finale felt a little rushed and unaddressed). All of the bad reviews helped set the bar low for this book, so enjoying it was a pleasant surprise.
