WHAT DID I JUST READ?
I managed to avoid book and movie spoilers for over a year, so I'm really proud of that. This book is insane. I thought Dark Places was a mind-fuck, but BOY WAS I WRONG.
I see that Flynn is a fan of alternating perspectives/voice in her novels, and I think this style worked particularly well for the concept of Gone Girl. HOLY HELL.

I loved the plot of this book, which brought several fantastic twists, but I think ultimately I'd prefer to just see the movie (which I have not yet). What I'm saying is, there was nothing about the actual writing that was particularly compelling, so I don't think anything would be lost in seeing this thrilling tale instead of reading it. Congrats to Gillian Flynn, though, for taking to an extreme the dynamics of relationships and individuality and crafting them into such a cool, twisting narrat

A book which will keep you guessing throughout. Even the most seasoned CSI and Law and Order fan will not see the twists coming. Flynn does an excellent job with character development and allowing you to be drawn into each character until you become repulsed by them. The plot keeps you turning the pages long after you should have been asleep and the end forces your jaw to hit the floor so hard that it breaks.

Loved this book. The entire plot is so twisted it's very hard to wrap your head around... Throughout the book you always question which character you should like, often times disliking both... The dysfunction and manipulation in their marriage is so poisonous, it makes you wonder how both can keep playing the games they do...
