I like to take a YA break and really read something grown up. NW was a tough way to transition. It's a deeply character driven book and the rough English dialog also made it more a deep read then I am used to. I enjoyed the short story-esque style of writing and the character profiles the writer develops. They are well placed for deeper thoughts on society and self acceptance but I kept waiting for the characters to come together some how. They never did.
