Jumbled thoughts:

1. I keep alternating between "this would be an intriguing movie" and "this could never be a movie, it's too horrifying."

2. Somebody's pulling my leg that this was written in 1935. That or Sinclair Lewis had some serious prescience going on.

3. I would love to see this story from the point of view of a black person, maybe the Dr. Adams mentioned towards the end.

4. Jesus. Just.

While there are better written dystopian novels, this is the most prescient to read, given today's political climate.


And yet, to quote the final passage:
"And still Doremus goes on in the red sunrise, for a Doremus Jessup can never die".
