I appreciated the historical references to social life and culture in Brooklyn New York. but the voice was somewhat flat and detached which bored me at times. characters and setting were well developed. the story was chock full of historical information or perspective and I can understand why it was a classic. but I would have been bored to death if I had to read this in highschool.
